Crew 1 has been providing leadership experiences in the great outdoors since 2003. This trip journal contains highlights of some of our most memorable trips and activities. Activities are chosen and planned by our officers and members at our monthly meetings. New ideas are always welcome.
Activities vary from year-to-year, and usually include a mixture of hiking and backpacking, kayaking, biking, rock climbing, and other outdoor adventures. No experience is necessary. Our advisers will help make sure new members are prepared for each activity.
All of our activities are supervised by our team of adult advisers, and parents. We follow the BSA's safety and youth protection guidelines for all of our activities. Interersted in planning a trip? Talk to one of the officers.
We spent the April school vacation week biking 160 miles of the C&O Canal Towpath from Cumberland Maryland to the outskirts of Washington, DC. Along the way we visited Antietam National Battlefield, Harpers Ferry West Virginia, and explored the historic sites along the canal. At the end of the week we spent two days touring Washington, DC, including a trip to see the space shuttle Discovery at the Air & Space Museum.
